Short residency programs in Europefor professional and training dancers and choreographers of Mexican nationality residing in Mexico or abroad.


For 13 years, FDR Dance has been tirelessly committed to providing development opportunities to Mexican choreographers and dancers, both professional and in training.

 

On this occasion, we expanded our borders by managing the possibility of carrying out threeshort residencies in Portugal, Spain and Germany.

Registration deadline:March 1, 2024. 

Publication of results:March 22, 2024.

  1. Intranzyt Cia (Youth Professional Company)Portugal.

  2. Institute of the Arts Barcelona(University of Arts)Spain.

  3. CDSH – Contemporary Dance School Hamburg(Vocational Training Program)Germany.

 

One participant will be selected for each of the following residencies:

 

Intranzyt Cia Residence in Vila Novo de Famalicão, Portugal:

 

  • Duration:Three weeks

  • Activities:Training and learning of the company's repertoire.

  • Addressed to: Professional and training dancers, ages 19 to 24.

  • Requirements:Knowledge of ballet and contemporary techniques.

  • Period: It will be defined with the availability of the participant between September and December 2024.

  • Assessment:

    1. Fill out the participation form and pay the fees.

    2. Submit a recording of a 2-minute contemporary solo, without edits, preferably in a dance studio in work clothes.

 

Institute of the Arts Barcelona - Intensive on Sitges Beach, Barcelona:

 

  • Duration: An intensive week with 20 mixed classes.

  • Activities: Ballet, contemporary, jazz, commercial dance and movement research classes.

  • Addressed to: Professional and training dancers, ages 18 to 25.

  • Requirements: Knowledge of ballet, contemporary and jazz techniques.

  • Dates: From July 1 to 5, 2024 or from July 2 to 8, 2024.

  • Assessment:

    1. Fill out the participation form and pay the fees.

    2. Send two recordings; a 2 min contemporary solo and a 2 min jazz solo. without edits, preferably in a dance studio in work clothes.

 

CDSH – Contemporary Dance School Residency in Hamburg, Germany:

 

  • Duration: Three weeks

  • Activities:Technical classes and assignment of a group of students and a rehearsal room for the creation of a short choreographic piece.

  • Addressed to: Contemporary choreographers ages 21 and up.

  • Period: It will be defined with the availability of the participant between September and December 2024.

  • Assessment:

    1. Fill out the participation form and pay the fees.

    2. Submit a recording of a 3-minute contemporary choreography authored by the participant (duet or group), without edits, preferably in a dance studio wearing work clothes. (The participant may or may not appear in the video).

To address costs associated with advertising, administration, and the time required to carefully review each application in our program, We require a fee payment of 350 Mexican pesos for each application submitted. We appreciate your understanding and support of our creative initiative.

The selection process will consist of the following stages:

-First evaluation: Made by FDR Dance to ensure that the material is complete and of artistic quality.

-Second evaluation: In charge of the institution.

-Meeting with Directors: A meeting will be held between the directors of each institution to define those selected.

Interested parties can apply for one or more residences to be selected.

Our residencies only cover the programs mentioned above. Transportation, travel insurance, accommodation, and food costs will be the responsibility of each participant.
